2 icebound ships freed off Russia - The Washington Post: "MOSCOW -- Two Russian ships that were trapped in thick ice off the country's east coast made it to clear water on Wednesday, but one of the icebreakers sent to rescue them was stuck for hours.
Three other vessels, with a total of more than 430 crew aboard, remained trapped in the Sea of Okhotsk for a sixth day Wednesday. The transportation ministry says those vessels have sufficient fuel and water, and there is no danger to those aboard.

A large group of passengers, many stranded for more than 24 hours, stormed the passport control zone, demanding information on their flights, the agency said.
Despite upbeat statements by the Moscow power grid company and airport officials, “electricity is still largely off, with baggage conveyors and escalators remaining at a standstill,” Interfax added.
Some 200 flights were cancelled on Monday after freezing rain snapped power lines and cut electricity to Domodedovo the day before, while a lack of deicing fluid kept planes from taking off at Sheremetyevo, another big Moscow airport."
